The Birth of Archimedes

When Archimedes was 5 days old, the nurse wrapped him up in a cloth and ran around the round fireplace….. Hearth…. er, thingy, in the middle of the living room, with the rest of the house hold, including slaves, a few times. When he was ten days old, he had his naming ceremony. All the relatives and stuff came and the father said what his name was and blessed him and stuff and bla, bla, bla, bla, bla………………….. bla ……….. zzzzzzzzzzzz….zzzzzzzzzzz OH! Oops I think I fell asleep……. anyway, then they all went to Hungry Jacks®.

Abraham Lincoln’s Assassination

Abraham had a dream that he was walking through the White House and he heard the sound of crying, he walked into a room and saw a coffin. People were crying around it, Abraham asked one of the guards who were guarding the coffin who was dead. The guard said that was the president, Abraham Lincoln who was killed by an assassin. Abraham, when he woke up, was shaken by the dream. On the 14th of April, Abraham and his wife were going to a play. When they got there, they sat up in their own, private box with 2 rocking chairs for them so they could watch in comfort. During the play the police captain guarding them was so interested in the play that he wandered down to the audience(tst tst!) The president was unguarded! In the crowd was a man named William Booth, he hated Abraham. He sneaked up into Abraham’s box and pulled out a pistol and shot him, then he jumped of the box, intending to land on the stage and run out to where his horse was waiting, instead his leg got caught on a flag on the way down and he twisted in the air, fell on the stage and broke his leg(serves him right!) But then he got away. A doctor tried to revive Abraham but he died. 14 days later they found Booth hiding in a barn, they set the barn on fire and shot im’ when ‘e came out.thu end

Italy’s “Resurrection”

In Italy in 1850 each state in Italy had its own prince, its own laws, Basically its own kingdom. Most of these states were not owned by Italy but by Austria. Some places were tired of being controlled by Austria so they formed secret societies. One of these secret societies was called “the Carbonaria”. They grew long hair and bushy beards, if the police saw them lurking around the streets they would arrest them and drag them off, not to prison, but to the barbers for a haircut! All the secret societies had secret meetings and grew long hair but they all had different ideas about how the nation should be. In 1831 the secret society called “the Carbonaria” managed to bring the disagreeing societies together into an open revolt for Austrian rule. But the Austrians soon found out, they sent soldiers to break up the rebellion hundreds of members of the societies were arrested, all the ringleaders except one, Giuseppe Mazzini, were put to death. Mazzini started another society called “Young Italy” every member of the young Italians had to be under 40 and had to own a rifle, a dagger and 50 bullets. Soon Austria said that it was a crime punishable by death to be in the young Italians but more people continued to come to the young Italians. Soon a young sailor called Giuseppe Garibaldi joined. The fighting began in 1848, Soon the Austrians had to call France for help, then Italy had to surrender. Garibaldi plotted a surprise attack starting in Sicily and that resulted in Austria being defeated and Italy becoming a free country.
